Don't worry jonnieb-uk. I am sure that we will get back into 90th place on points very soon. The slight drop in performance may simply be down to Thargors family visit, and I have had one of my i7s offline for the last week!
----------------------------------------Thargor - I hope you enjoyed spending time with the family.

@ Msk100 Welcome to the UK team where every contribution is valued.
---------------------------------------- We have today gained one place in the Results rankings, advancing to #90 ahead of America (USA). I'm still working on my reassessment of Targets (& threats ) following my recent slip up. If only Excel recognised y:ddd:hh:mm:ss as a valid format! ![]() |

Following the unforseen loss of a place in the Points Rankings I have now reviewed current performance of each of the teams in the 10 places below us in each of the three categories. From this I draw the following conclusions
---------------------------------------- Runtime We will drop one place imminently to BRASIL - BRAZIL@GRID who have the bonus crunching contribution of 26 members of the Base Camp team. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/..._thread,17232_offset,1750 In the medium term (30 - 90 days) we will drop a further two places to HKU & Fundación Proacceso . The latter team is currently logging 4.5 Years per day so the current gap of 61 years will not remain for long. In the long term (>90 days) there is a possible challenge from Kansas State University Points There is a medium term threat from HKU (est 45 days) and a long term threat from TeAm AnandTech Results No threats forseen at the present time. cave incautos ![]() |

jonnieb-uk, I wrote this in response to your post in The Air Force Team thread. Maybe you didn't read it, so I'll repost here.
You may have the possibility to make a new team thread As to being responsible for your drop in ranking in relation to Team Brasil-Brazil@grid, Base Camp apologises. and ask that the old one be closed, jonnieb-uk. The new thread you could dress up in whatever your mind fancies - just a suggestion ![]() If it can be of any comfort to you, our Trek there will come to a scheduled stop in a week .... - then it will be back to normal in South America, but we all get to know this team a little better - and that's just the purpose: friendliness across borders, gender, generations and continents .... |

@ little mermaid I did notice your reply in The Air Force Team thread but didn't want to clutter their thread by replying there. It was not that I wanted to close this current UK team thread, I was exploring the possibility of amending the thread header by adding a Union Jack. Sadly it appears the the BB code [ **==] that produced
---------------------------------------- is a one off. With regard to Base Camp's trek to South America, I think it a fine idea that encourages interaction between members of different teams, cultures, etc. The remedy to the drop in position is in our own hands - recruit more members/add additional resources. |

@ Wicksman lol
---------------------------------------- In a previous life and to some extent in this one, I've spent too much time on committees etc with politicians and the like, and turning a pretty phrase comes without effort. However I can be blunt and to the point if there is a need. ![]() |

@ little mermaid I did notice your reply in The Air Force Team thread but didn't want to clutter their thread by replying there. It was not that I wanted to close this current UK team thread, I was exploring the possibility of amending the thread header by adding a Union Jack. Sadly it appears the the BB code [ **==] that produced I understood quite well that you just wanted to spruce up your team thread so that it stands out. is a one off.It cannot be done, I understand, with an "old" (don't ask how old, please) thread - I remember Team Crunching@EVGA was able to fix a typo in their team thread subject before it was too late. Several teams make new threads regularly - MOT is one, so if you really wanted some ornamentation, I believe it would be the way to go with your particular thread. But as Union Jack is not an option the subject may be old hat. As to cluttering The Air Force Team thread, I don't think it can be done. They would like others to speak, because they don't speak much themselves. Only the US Marines and the US Navy speak less. edited this as it was a bit negative, just dont understand the morals behind "base camp"...... Wicksman, Base Camp was formed in 2004 as a "guest crunching" entity. Not good enough for their own team? We are not a team in the traditional meaning of the word but a Motley crew which stay in touch in our Base Camp Forum. Our aim is to promote friendship and unity among teams and crunchers. We like if we can facilitate building a team as we think we did with Team *The Survivors* thas went from a one-man-show to a decent sized team with very dedicated crunchers because of an energetic, hard-working and wise captain. As our Trek #37 we thought we would like to promote and encourage interaction between a Brazilian team and mainly Anglo-American speaking teams, exactly as johnnib-uk phrases it. - and Base Camp has been lucky to attract many crunchers - some with outstandingpower which also can boost a host team's statistical standing considerably. So far we have made 39 treks altogether with crews of different combinations. |
