I lost 7 work units, I'm sorry.

I tried to install Linux in a flash drive, and run it on my Win.xp computer. It seemed like it was working fine, but the entire boinc manager vanished. I'm so sorry, WCG. If there is a way to reload them I could re-run them now, or should they simply be allowed to time-out in a few more days?

Don't worry, they will be reissued to someone else. Work units disappear all the time for a variety of reasons (hd failure, power outage, etc.)

Cheers

It happens to allot of folks so nothing to worry about. Those lost will be redistributed. Don't give up. Suggest you try running some programs to insure it's running stable. What version of boinc are you running? What Linux distro are you running? We are here to help if you need it.

Re: I lost 7 work units, I'm sorry.

It was Ubuntu 10.10 and boinc 6.10.58. I guess I ended up making a live version, the kind that used to go on read-only CDs, although that's all resolved now.
I'm using two xp PCs now, and the Linux one will be mostly just for browsing since that PC is really old. If I decide to try Linux on the faster PCs later I may install it on a separate hard drive altogether.

Thanks.
