Please read about the news and updates here.
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=157 This is version 6.41 on your machine. Also, it is Windows and Linux only as we are still working towards getting Mac-Intel deployed as well. Thanks, -Uplinger |

My first 64-bit WU just completed successfully
c4cw_ target03_ 072596464_ 0-- 641 Valid 3/17/11 21:46:51 3/18/11 10:04:08 3.40 66.6 / 78.1 A sample of only one, I know, but it completed in 7% less time than recent 32-bit CCW WUs on the same machine, but for about the same granted points. I like how the WU number emphasized the importance of being 64 ![]() |

How do you recognise if a WU is send in 64 or 32 bit ?
I have boinc manager 6.10.58 installed, on a 64 bit win7 machine, so I guess I should be receiving 64 bit WU's for C4CW? |

hi,
----------------------------------------The task application name has 64 in it at the end as in e.g. ....windows_intelx86_64 Visit Tasks Manager and if you don't see any wcgrid_c4cw or wcg_c4cw processes, select the box at bottom to show all user processes. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 19, 2011 12:28:11 PM] |

How do you recognise if a WU is send in 64 or 32 bit ? I have boinc manager 6.10.58 installed, on a 64 bit win7 machine, so I guess I should be receiving 64 bit WU's for C4CW? The wu-files themselves will be the same, old, (boring) 8-bit files, and I doubt this will be changed anytime soon. The application on the other hand will be 64-bit, as long as you're: 1: Running a 64-bit OS. (currently Windows or Linux only). 2: Running either a v6.10.xx or later BOINC-client. (32 or 64-bit). or 3: Running an older v5.10.xx - v6.6.xx 64-bit BOINC-client. If you're running a pre-v6.10.xx 32-bit BOINC-client, you will only get 32-bit applications. Oh, and as for the wu's, while it's possible to give special wu's only to the 64-bit computers, it's more doubtful if this will be the case for C4CW, since memory-requirement is less than 400 MB. For a project there either some wu's needs, or it's a speed-advantage to use more than 2 GB, having special wu's only issued to 64-bit computers will be an advantage. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Like all the novel info, Ingleside, but what part does tell Cash how he can check if his client is running a task with the 32 or 64 bits science application?
(and yes it's all the same tasks, randomly assigned to whoever want the job, at WCG that is) PS, have asked admin to add a para to the info article #157 How To. |
