At some point in the last few weeks my BOINC manager stopped loading extra tasks. Before there were generally 7 running tasks and 7 ready to start tasks. Now I only have the 7 running tasks. I haven't found anything in the preferences related to this and don't know what might have changed. This happened some time after going from windows 7 64 Pro to 7 64 Pro Service pack 1 and making the mistake of using Norton Utilities to "clean" my disk. I know Norton fouled my Firefox profile so it might have done something to BOINC.
Walter Hamilton wfhiii@myfairpoint.net Here are the initial messages when I start BOINC: 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.58 for windows_x86_64 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Running under account Walter 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 5] 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Processor: 256.00 KB cache 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 nx lm vmx tm2 popcnt pbe 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Memory: 8.99 GB physical, 17.98 GB virtual 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Disk: 266.79 GB total, 205.91 GB free 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Local time is UTC -5 hours 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GT 240 (driver version 26099, CUDA version 3020, compute capability 1.2, 475MB, 257 GFLOPS peak) 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM World Community Grid URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1267547; resource share 100 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 31-Dec-1969 19:00:01) 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM World Community Grid Host location: none 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM World Community Grid General prefs: using your defaults 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Reading preferences override file 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Preferences: 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM max memory usage when active: 6905.37MB 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM max memory usage when idle: 6905.37MB 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM max disk usage: 4.00GB 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM max CPUs used: 7 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM don't use GPU while active 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) 3/6/2011 9:25:43 PM Not using a proxy |

Your log looks normal on the surface, but we miss the part where it shows that jobs have started and a server scheduler connect.
----------------------------------------Two things you can do: 1. Hit Update in the Project tab then 2. Copy the additional messages into a reply. You say that there are 7 tasks running which confirms with your local preferences, so it's there where you have to look what the connect interval and the additional buffer setting is. Is your computer Activity menu set to "run always" or per preferences? Notably, if a computer has been off for a while, or has a changed number of hours per day, the caching adapts, so if you have a setting of e.g. 0.3 days cache and your tasks take equally long or longer, there is no reason to have many "In progress" waiting. At any rate your client would go out to get new work when a current task finishes. Did you have a mishap with the system date setting? Let us know your findings --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 7, 2011 7:52:28 PM] |
