Not only, it's impoossible to make the linf with Facebook, 'cause the application is "not available", but it displqys on my wall stats like :
Earned 2292727 points (#19392) and 4604 results (#11874) by donating over 4 years (#14045) of computer time to World Community Grid This kind of message means nothing for people who don't know WCG, and is of no interest to convince people to join WCG. So I canceled WCG form my Facebook account, waiting for better times. Poor ads for WCG... |

I guess they must be complete idiots at WCG to think that donation of 4 years of Computer time is meaningless to people you know or 4604 'results'. Maybe the underlying idea is to peak interest. My wall adds a few images such as the WCGALL chart and the projects... YOU too can help to spread the word and omitting is definitely not doing that.

Legrandpiou,
----------------------------------------Were you given the option to 'Link' your account AFTER you already had wall messages being posted? Your account is linked when you set up that messages, so if you were presented the opportunity to 'Link' after that it is a bug. We found the link on the landing page for our application on Facebook. Is this the link you used? We will fix this. thanks, Kevin [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Mar 7, 2011 5:13:16 PM] |

Dear Sekerob
Being ignorant of somthing is not necessarily being a "complet idiot". The friends who wrote me are not geeks, they know nothing about distributed computing, nor do they about WCG, they know a few things about their own computer, some of them do not even speak english and I can certify that they are not idiots.... I had to explain this in detail. Last year I had a special WCGpage on my face book account. This page disappeared and had been replaced by thos mysterious (for idiots) messgaes... I'd just like to get again this special page... But maybe it's me the complete twit ? I'll try again and, anyway, I keep on crunching like a good little soldier becaus I think it's modestly useful. Thanks anyway for all your explanations... |

If only I knew what that special page was, legrandpiou. Can you maybe describe layout and content?
There is/was an unendorsed Facebook page that shows/showed in kind of an emulated way the My Grid page plus some milestone info (no idea if it still exists) and an WCG Facebook page that was shut down as parts of that were integrated into the present WCG FB page, which you've I'm sure long discovered here: http://apps.facebook.com/worldcommunitygrid/stats.php?stats=myteam when I coupled the WCG app to the personal page. Now my page shows the app link, the feed of posts there and the occasional stats message (elected the monthly on the My Grid > Social Networking page). Every contribution is appreciated, however small... many cents make richness. --//-- |

Last year I had a special WCGpage on my face book account. This page disappeared and had been replaced by thos mysterious (for idiots) messgaes... I'd just like to get again this special page... Developing for the Facebook platform is a challenge. They continually change what we can and cannot do. In this particular case, Facebook decided that applications developed for Facebook are no longer allowed to have tabs on people's Facebook pages. As a result, you no longer see that. The same is true for the 'boxes' that used to display your badges earned on the side of your profile. Those were eliminated about a 18 months ago. So we changed how we do things and now you can have messages posted to your wall automatically based on certain events. Several thousand people have signed up to use this new feature and there does look like there is a modest increase in sign ups of users through Facebook (20/week or so - not a flood but perhaps a steady trickle). We are looking to make some changes to the messages. We are looking to vary the daily messages to make them more interesting, reword some of them to be more understandable to those not already participating and also add the ability to have news and update items posted to your wall. |
