At first excuse me for my english, i'm french and will try to be as clear as possible.
My message concernes the following task E201331_ 394_ A.30.C20H11N5S4Si.96.0.set1d06_ 1-- The problem my side is that this tak restarts at 0% each time the calculation is suspended or i restart my computer. I never account this problem since i participate to WCG projects. Other projects are running on my computer without any problem of this kind. Is it a particular problem or can i do something my side to correct that? I'm using Windows Seven and intel 4 core processor. Thank's and good luck to all WCG projects. Pat |

CEP2 tasks take a long time to checkpoint.Sometimes checkpoints may be hours apart.
----------------------------------------Each time you restart the PC or suspend the task it will reset to the last checkpoint. If you want to suspend tasks without loosing progress go to advanced-->preferences--> Use of disk and memory-->tick the Leave applications on memory while suspended box. You can also use hibernation mode to make sure nothing gets lost even if it hasn't checkpointed yet.make sure to tick the Leave applications on memory while suspended box if you hibernate. Hope I helped! CEP Team:
----------------------------------------If you have not already considered this, please consider checkpointing to a memory stream, then writing that stream to disk when the app gets signaled that the pc is shutting down. ![]() |

Is it possible to say where the checkpoints are? maybe every 10% oder every hour?
I would let calculate the WU to the next checkpoint before shutting down the PC - if i knew where the checkpoint is... Hybernation is not possible on my pc. |

I would let calculate the WU to the next checkpoint before shutting down the PC - if i knew where the checkpoint is... Hibernation is not possible on my pc. There is no exact predicting when the next checkpoint is, there though being a pattern that the 3rd takes long to be reached, multiple hours and one or two jobs towards the end. There are 16 in a task and easiest to follow is getting BOINCTasks tool which counts the checkpoints and shows how long it was since last checkpoint. Last checkpoint can also be seen in BOINC Manager Advanced view by selecting a running task and hitting the properties button on left or activating the <checkpoint_debug> logflag. Then each checkpoint time is written to the message log. For more detail visit the Start Here FAQ index. It has a number of topics on checkpointing and minimizing time loss when doing a shutdown. Hibernation is lossless btw. --//-- |
