We had quite a discussion not long back on alternative electricity sources. I have been watching what one particular guy has been doing for several years. Frankly I am impressed at what he has done espeically with his new TLG-1800-GT system. It is approved for use (grid tie) by the California Energy Commission..so it must be safe. Anyway his website is here . If any of you want the latest update on his develoment, go to my website and send me your email address.

First off, for those who might be interested, we as a team moved up one slot in the points ranks passing Michigan Tech today. We appear to also be gaining on BOINC@Australia, a bit slowly and for now at least.
----------------------------------------jpenning had quite the first day here at MOT. I don't find any posts by them in the forums but I'd still love to hear from them here. One result of the signature verification problem yesterday is that all the WU's that errored out are being resent with the short (4 day) deadline. Not sure how that will impact us pointwise other than we might see smaller numbers stuck in PV. As for the DDDT2 rain shower, estimates in its forum are for that to last until around mid-month. I made emerald this morning so it's going to take a lot of rain storms to ever get to sapphire. Dave, the signature key change was not supposed to have any impact but it clearly did for many of us. Nothing yet from the admins other than they didn't see anything in their testing of the change beforehand. It's early of course but I'd still hate to see that error happen again. I'm sure they'll investigate it pretty thoroughly since they'll eventually have to update the sig. key again (though I don't recall this happening before so once every 5-6 years losing your entire cache isn't all that bad). Fanie, welcome to the current shorthand used here in the forums. You'll hear the different projects referred to by their acronyms - FAAH is Fight Aids@Home, HPF2 is Human Proteome Folding Phase 2, C4CW is Computing for Clean Water (also just call Water at times), CEP2 is Clean Energy Project Phase 2, DDDT2 is Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 as Dave pointed out, HCC is Help Conquer Cancer, HFCC is Help Fight Childhood Cancer, and HCMD2 is Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2. PV is Pending Validation. That's where WU's with a quorum of 2 or more go when some folks have returned them but not all of the 2 or more folks crunching that WU. Since you don't get points until the WU validates, it's been nicknamed the PV jail and thus the jailbreaks are when you have a good portion of your WU's in PV validate on the same day (more of them than usual). You may really know this already, may know it but needed your memory jogged or really didn't know it. In any case, this may hopefully help other folks too understand what is being said here at times. Normally, when you're posting and get that "application error" message, your post won't show up and the post is gone so if you really want to be sure that long post you've been working on makes it, you might consider copying it to Notepad before hitting reply in case you do get an error. I tend to have fat, uncoordinated fingers and seem to have an unfortunate knack for hitting the wrong keys - like F5 (refresh) - so I am slowly learning to compose long or "involved" posts in Notepad and then copying them into the post. There's a limit on the size of a post so some of the stat reports I post end up getting broken into multiple posts to get around the size limit. |

I am not near brave enough to speculate on who that "someone" might be but I know who that someone would be if it were happening around here. It will be interesting to see how much the giant new cruncher adds. |
