I have downloaded version 6.10.58 of BOINC client from WCG after creating my new account. The installation was successful (Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit) and proxy settings have been manually entered (http proxy).
----------------------------------------But I am getting an error screen saying "Project Not Found. The URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC-based project". This happens even if I try to attach the WCG project manually! I am using my office laptop. Could it be a proxy problem? I don't get any proxy-related error messages at all. I have no problems logging into my WCG profile on the website, but my profile doesn't list my computer as a "device". I would like a few suggestions on how to fix it please! I have pasted my "Messages" screen here:

Hi,
Only help I found for you, dumping the full warning you had "Project Not Found. The URL you supplied is not that of a BOINC-based project" into Google, produced these 2 top hits. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Advanced_FAQ http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/TroubleshootClient suggesting this to happen for some on AOL and requiring an uninstall and a reinstall into a different program folder (option in install process) --/-- PS: If true, Todd Rundgren once more has chance to belt his tune: "I Hate My ISP" |

Hi SekeRob,
I have tried the solution given on the links you provided (even though it's meant for AOL users and I am not using AOL). But still the same problem persists. Maybe there is some other issue involved. I think it may be an "unfriendly" office network firewall responsible (not the local McAfee firewall, which I have disabled to test my BOINC installation). Any network gurus out there who can help?? PS - Where can I download "I Hate My ISP" ![]() |

Hi again,
----------------------------------------No idea. Uninstall again and reinstall, [right click on the package first to select an install as admin], then selecting Protected Application Execution in the 3rd or 4th screen (Advanced button), Also, maybe you have to set the http flag in the cc_config.xml . <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> Set this flag to use HTTP 1.0 instead of 1.1 (this may be needed with some proxies). Then, which Install package are u using? WCG's? If so and no luck, get the unskinned installer of Berkeley, the original. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php?all_platforms=1 . We see the occasional miracle. Oh, and please edit out the Proxy IP and user account name from your original post as you don't want to advertise company info. The PAE installation will replace latter to run under boinc_master or something (if you-re allowed to install as admin.) --//-- PS: And, I'll just insert a cautionary warning! Only install BOINC when permitted to, and let it run over the company network. edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA8T4bn5PIE [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 3, 2011 8:34:21 AM] |
