Recruiting people from other distributed computing projects

Has anybody been in contact with Distributed.net (http://www.distributed.net) to try to have their members join the World Community Grid? They've been doing the same RC5 encryption projects (with increasing key lengths) for years. It's time they move on to something more practical.

What about SETI@home?

Does anybody know what other recruiting efforts are underway to grow the membership?

Thanks!

Well i think those people are old enough to decide wether or not they want to switch to another project so you can't make any advertising on their public boards. I was a member of the distributed.net community before. But when i heard about this project i switched!

Re: Recruiting people from other distributed computing projects

Some of the distributed.net staffers are in fact responsible for the Agent used in the UD grid.org and WCG projects. Having a diversity of projects to choose from is always a good thing.

You may feel free to try to talk to any SETI@Home friends that you know and ask them to join WCG if you like.

Re: Recruiting people from other distributed computing projects

it should be enough to advertiese this without specifically targetting other similar efforts. I did seti@home for a while, on and off. seems uncool to directly recruit other projects people away, if this is better people will switch anyway.

Agreed. I was just wondering if anything high level was happening.
I agree that diversity of projects is good.
