Normally, you cant show WCG graphics and than use the same card to crunch if that is what you want to do... at least, that's what I read in past.

WCG does not crunch using a GPU. I can confirm that if you crunch for a Boinc GPU project the screen saver will not run (tested on Vista/6.10.58). If you fold (non-boinc) with a GPU, using a screen saver will slow down GPU crunching and may cause failures, but it depends on the card. It impacts upon lesser cards the most.

What project are you crunching with GPU? I can't find any info on GPU crunching here at WCG. Seems a waste...I can crunch almost 20hrs/day with GPU on my laptop while staying fully functional. With CPU tasks, that can't happen, so I have to reduce the amount of CPU available to BOINC. On my desktop, I've got CPU + 2 GPU (ATI & NVIDIA), and run them all at around 90-99% 24/7. |
