Boinc connection error RESOLVED

Hi,

I've been granted local admin rights on two of my work PC's following a migration to Windows 7 Enterprise. I would like to run WCG whilst logged in using my domain credentials so I can gain access to shared network resources. However, I can only install the client using the admin account for the local host. I have checked the 'Allow all users to manage BOINC' option on the install but whenever I log in using my domain details the client fails to start and if I try to start it manually I get the following:

You are currently not authorised to use the client. Contact your admin to add you to the 'boinc_users' local user group.

I know it's being lazy asking you guys for help rather than research the problem myself but being time recorded I can't spend a great deal of time trying to fix this

T.I.A.

Oli

Re: Boinc connection error

Not Time Recorded, though I'm in permanent harms way if "the boss" sees me doing this instead of another mission :D

So you selected "Allow All Users", but what about the "Protected Application Execution" option during install? Did you install as yourself, or did you right click the installer which on my computer offers to execute the package as administrator?

Re: Boinc connection error

Thanks for the quick response, I can only install using admin credentials for the local system, my domain username doesn't have admin privileges. Protected Application Execution was unticked during install

Re: Boinc connection error

Then try Uninstall > Reinstall with the PAE (may fail) or have the admin add you to that boinc_users group.

Here's a prior discussion thread on that permission message (30 seconds on google): http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=3798
