Re: DDDT2: frequent Inconclusives and Invalids in this batch of WUs?

Thank for checking so swiftly... sorry, my 3rd eye was not switched on today. The thumbs down is not in our control... client switches e.g. between tasks due High Priority states or because it was time for another project to get it's share, a orderly system shutdown and start.
Anyone running with a daily boot routine or part time crunches working on this sciences is thus at risk of seeing above normal send homes... and those caching too much too.

cheers

Actually I suspect *everyone* is at risk if restarts cause out-of-range results. Even if your WU runs without interruption, if your wingman's copy restarts, you could get an "inconclusive" and the tie-breaker could go either way.

Also, I looked at the 6 DDDT2 WUs that I have that are either still "inconclusive" or that have become "invalid." In one of them, I had a restart and the wingman didn't. In the other 5, nobody had a restart. So maybe the acceptable range is so narrow that it doesn't even take a restart to make a clean run produce a result outside it.

Here's one where neither of us has a restart:
ts02_ a342_ pr67b0_ 2-- - In Progress 1/22/11 04:22:04 1/26/11 04:22:04 0.00 0.0 / 0.0
ts02_ a342_ pr67b0_ 1-- 617 Inconclusive 1/21/11 19:27:48 1/22/11 04:11:48 3.79 81.6 / 0.0
ts02_ a342_ pr67b0_ 0-- 617 Inconclusive 1/21/11 18:41:48 1/22/11 03:41:03 4.18 111.1 / 0.0

Wingman's log:

Result Name: ts02_ a342_ pr67b0_ 1--

<core_client_version>6.10.58</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
Calling gridPlatform.init()
INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

My log:

Result Name: ts02_ a342_ pr67b0_ 0--

<core_client_version>6.10.17</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
Calling gridPlatform.init()
INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

I can pull more of these if it's useful, SekeRob or Uplinger.

Re: DDDT2: frequent Inconclusives and Invalids in this batch of WUs?

Here's another wierd one. I had a restart, and the original wingman did not. The tie-breaker validated my result, even though he/she didn't have a restart.

Re: DDDT2: frequent Inconclusives and Invalids in this batch of WUs?

Weird is, or not, that my copy on the one I posted about, was the one restarting. The wingman ran clean as did the repair jobber, yet mine was declared valid. A coin with a very narrow edge is at work here maybe?

ts02_ a047_ pla008_ 2-- 617 Valid 23-1-11 13:19:22 24-1-11 00:58:13 2.53 88.7 / 91.8
ts02_ a047_ pla008_ 1-- 617 Valid 18-1-11 15:11:03 23-1-11 12:47:26 5.20 94.8 / 91.8 < mine with restart!
ts02_ a047_ pla008_ 0-- 617 Invalid 18-1-11 15:10:56 20-1-11 11:18:56 2.97 57.4 / 45.9

edit: Though the invalid are frusting, it wont deter me... the rate is still very low. I've had 21 days worth validating (125 results) and only seen 1 wingman so far sent to the south side.

I'm relieved that you're seeing such a low rate. I have seen 8 invalids in 160 completed WUs in this batch (3 invalids for me and 5 for wingmen), so I had thought that was a typical rate. I must just by chance have gotten so many.

Are you running DDDT2 exclusively or with a mix of other projects?

I was running DDDT2 exclusively on CPU (and MilkyWay on GPU) when I got the 3 inconclusives that ended up becoming invalid for me. This is an AMD quadcore (Phenom II X4 610e) which has never had any other invalids.

I was also running DDDT2 exclusively on my other machines when I got the inconclusives that ended up valid for me -- one was running GPUGrid on GPU; the other doesn't have a usable GPU.

All are running under Ubuntu 10.04.

I was just curious because I had inconclusives on the last batch when I was running DDDT2 exclusively on my Linux crunchers to get to sapphire. Now that I'm running a mix I haven't seen any more inconclusives. I don't know if the 2 are related because with the mix I'm running now I don't get very may DDDT2 WUs.
