Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

I figured out why recent WUs are crunching faster. I check the last 10 valid WU that I did and both my wingman and I exist with
"Application exited with RC = 0xc0000005"

I know that this is still considered valid, but is this intentional?

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

I have my Luna rig that is set so as to receive only CEP2 WU's, and if none is available then to receive WU's from other projects. It seems there is a shortage of CEP2 WU's as Luna has received a large number of WU's from all other projects. Yesterday it returned 66 valid results which is a large number. I suppose it will stabilize around 45 per day in average. Hope CEP2 WU's shortage will not last too long.

Not going to ask you the 'too obvious' question as to what you set
Project Specific Settings

Number of workunits per host for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2? From 1 (Default) to 16 and Unlimited.

The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is limited on how many workunits a computer can have downloaded at a time and what minimum bandwidth the computer must have in order to receive any workunits. Changing this value from the default of 1 will override both of these restrictions.

See no reason why you'd not get an exclusive caching of CEP2, lest you've set a lower than ''Ăšnlimited' restriction in the device profile. Generally, start slowly incrementing for 8-16 core devices as you would otherwise never know when 'tilt' level is reached, if there is one for Luna.

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

You are right Sek. The obvious thing slipped out of my mind. It was at 1 and I changed it to Unlimited now.

But, but, but......nevertheless when Luna was fired up I received fully three days of cache filled with CEP2 WU's and 12 threads were running with CEP2 WUs. This lasted at least for four days and then things changed. So it took some time to have that project specific parameter become active, hence me not considering it. But this is not an excuse. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. praying

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

WCG tracks who consistently returning work < 2 days.
Good to know. I tend to keep a low cache on most systems, only upping it if I get problems such as wifi intermittancy. Other projects also keep records of early returns and resends get sent to those systems first. Might explain why I get quite a lot of Beta and DDDT2 resends - a good thing saying as I don't hammer the server.

Hypernova, I hope your moon is tripple channel.

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

Right now i am set for 1 work unit per computer at a time.

I found my systems started to become unstable (they are old) if i tried useing both processers at the same time for cep2... so right now i am running cep2 with c4cw or dddt2 useing the 2nd processor.

I wish my systems had more power so i could crunch faster but I am doing what i can to make a diffrence here and trying to convince others to join as well

You just keep on doing what you can - it all makes a difference (and, after all, you've actually done a lot more than many, including me biggrin ).

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

I just recently started up WCG again after a bit of an absence. I built a new PC and thought I'd dedicate the old one's final days (weeks, months, years...) to something worthwhile. And maybe put the new one through it's paces while I'm at it...

I was glad to see CEP2 up and running, CEP is hands down my favorite project.

Here's hoping I can help create some storage issues for you. laughing

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

Even limiting it to running on only a single core, all but 1 of my machines run this task inefficiently, to put it mildly.

On just 1 machine it reports the same amount of crunch time as elapsed time... all the rest run between 5% and 25% efficient. e.g. my Core2 Quad 6600 (4GB) fedora box running CEP2 on a single core (the other cores running DDDT2, and/or Einstein, Docking, Orbit projects), ran a single WU for nearly 12 hours with only 7% progress and less than 52 minutes of crunch time accumulated before I aborted the WU and turned CEP2 back off on that machine.

But a lowly T2500 dual core with 2GB of RAM and XP Pro runs CEP2 WUs on both cores with no inefficiency at all ('elapsed' and 'credited' time match to the second, and BOINCTasks reports 100% CPU utilization).
So that one is the only machine I have running CEP2, at the moment.

This most likely indicates you're running an old BOINC-client on this computer. Older clients than v6.6.xx only reports cpu-time, while "Elapsed time" will always be zero. BoincTask incorrectly shows 100% for such tasks.
