Hi all,
I would like to be able hide the icon of Boinc in my Windows systray panel. Are there any settings inside boinc to do so? Or are there any windows tricks someone can share?. Or should I use some outside program? P.s I would like to hide only a few specific icons, not "hide inactive icons" - as windows tray propertise are offering.. P.s.s Need for windows XP and Windows 7, as some of my computers running different systems. Thank you for your support. And thank you for helping us to help the World society ;) |

Right click on the icon to close it. It will ask if you want to stop running the science, make sure it is not checked. This will remove it from the system tray

On Win 7 Pro Right click on Toolbar and select Properties->Notification area->Customize and set World Comunity Grid for Windows to "Hide icon and notifications" Bill P Interesting... "hiding" the icon from oneself. Fortunately, the up and coming 6.12 has the feature to allow only 1 BOINC Manager to launch as else, before you know it you've got multiple BMs running and that eats resources and if many tasks are in cache has adverse performance effects. Hope the real notifications from BM 6.12 do not get suppressed too with that, so probably better is to only hide the icon, and select the "show messages only". Now, who knows how to relaunch the hidden BM with 6.10 and earlier? With W7 Homie Premiata, after changing the "Always show icons" found a little arrow that suppresses the showing of the icon, it working to just not have the BOINC Icon ''appear'', but that resulted on all other inactive icons to disappear too, so changed them all to always show... learned something new today about W7, Bill :D cheers |
