Hi all,
----------------------------------------This is in BOINC and on Windows. I do remember somebody telling me that the cep2.qcaux.zip is not one file but number of files stuck together or something. The problem is when it is downloading, it says 66.16 MB to download, when it is actually downloading it is downloading more than 125 MB till now. While I'm not so much concerned about how much data is being downloaded (thankfully) I am concerned as to why it is reporting things incorrectly. Following ideas/formulations which could be leading for the same :- a. Is it to do with the application - the cep2.qcaux.zip which is incorrect ? b. The WCG server/software infrastructure which prohibits in some way ? c. There is some bug/issue in the BOINC agent itself? It would be nice if somebody can give me a better idea as to why its reporting like that and what is being done or/and would be done in the near future so it gives correct info. Going to watch the thread as well. One of the things why I say that is because one trusts the BOINC client and I do trust the package but when it says one thing and does something double one is not so sure as to what's going on? Perhaps some virus attached or something, you know anything can happen. I did ask something similar in https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30286 While I got a solution/workaround but couldn't/didn't get a straight answer as to why it doesn't tell that the .zip file is 125 MB + Update: It has downloaded now and there are two files there, each saying 67,752 KB each which totals to 135 MB. Hi shirish,
BOINC tells you the uncompressed sizes of files at some point in the upload/download process, but WCG always uses compressed IO. Compression is optional in BOINC, which is why it tells you the uncompressed size even though we always use compression. It can be confusing. Lawrence |
