I was doing my usual cruncher checking when I noticed 1 machine that runs HFCC and HCC had every WU in cache aborted with the message."task aborted by project." They were nowhere near their due date. I hit update and it aborted the 6 that were running and downloaded a whole new set of WUs. Any ideas what happened?

nano, check your result pages. what probably happen was that those WUs were repair jobs (because some people didn't return them on time). But after sending them out to you, the original WUs were returned, so there is no need for you to crunch them.

I would think it would be highly unlikely for 2 different projects to all abort at the same time. They are all reported as detached and they were not repair WUs. Some of them have already been sent out as repairs to someone else.

This might happen if your systems time was out, and the Windows Time Service then corrected itself via an automatic time update from the Internet server (synchronization is scheduled to regularly update).

This machine is running Linux. I don't know how the time sync could get borked on a box that runs 24/7 while non of the others were affected but I've seen plenty of unexplained things happen to computers over the years. Whatever it was everything seems to be running and crunching normally now so I'll just chalk this one up to the computer gremlins. ![]() Thanks for the replies.

Plz post a portion of the stdoutdae.txt file from before and during those aborts, including the left margin time stamps and do scan for abrupt And in the vein of asking Ms Sophie, post the startup portion of the log so we get are refresh on the client info and setting. --//--

Hi nanoprobe,
The version 6 BOINC uses several directories. I do not have a Linux system so I can only suggest a general search for stdoutdae.txt. ![]() Lawrence |

Can be in many places depending on the platform and distro, but to make it easy, it's printed in the startup portion of the message log.
----------------------------------------Tue 30 Nov 2010 01:33:41 AM CET Data directory: /var/lib/boinc-client For Ubuntu with Synaptic package. The Gnome menu under Places has a "Search for Files". That found it on mine in a nano-second... 1.5 TB of harddisk space... if the file goes bigger than I think 2 or 3MB is stored away and a new stdoutdae.txt is created to keep the client up to speed. --//--
