biggrin Winter has arrived.

Since a few days we have external temperatures between 4 and 9 degrees Celsius. That is excellent for crunching. In my little basement room I have at the moment 13 devices (all 980X at 4Ghz) out of 19 in total, crunching full power and it feels cool. smile
We enter now the period of the year were a maximum crunching effort can be done.

Or if the winter will become as cold as the one in the last year, like it's assumed, then it Must be done smile

codes there is no more spinning dial nowadays in our digital world. As an electrical engineer it was obvious that when I bought my home I eliminated the older electrical switchboard and have one built to my specs. I have enough power to handle a small workshop (no kidding) and I have digital meters. I have also integrated ampmeters per phase so that I can allways now the load on each phase. The digital meters are made to measure double tariffs, day and night. The only indication that they are active is a pulsating led but which frequency is not related to consumption.
What is crazy is the electrical bills. That is the real issue. But I do not smoke, do not gamble etc. etc. so I can pay my bills at least for the moment. biggrin

Re: Winter has arrived.

Yes they are all overclocked around 4-4.1Ghz or about 250-260 Watts consumption per device. RAM DDR3 is also much faster then by X58 chipset standard. I use 1600, 1800, 2000, and 2133 Mhz RAM sticks.
The 980X is an excellent overclock champion. Except for one unit (I would have liked to sample them) all others overclock with a light core temp increase. The bad one even with a monster CPU cooler runs some cores at 90 deg at 4 Ghz. I had to keep the speed at 3.7 Ghz so that the highest core temps remained around 75 deg.

90c sounds awfully high for only 4 GHz even on air. What vcore is it running at?
It's time for some water cooling. biggrin
