This requested feature is one of frequent asks in WCG forum. From times to times it appear from distinct people asking to merge accounts.

Just this year I saw many solicitations from colaborators asking to do it.

So, in my humble opinion I guess that is time to WCG take a look at this request. This demand lasting for years and until now, WCG don't move in this direction and don't indicates that will move.

I know several explanations in the threads across the forums about technicals difficults to do it in easy way, but I would like to suggest that WCG team would take it in consideration and put it in the queue for the future features to be implemented (with some kind of priority due the large numbers of requests to do it).

Maybe using innovation and a different approach to do it, could address better and more easily the technical problem behind the scenes.

Maybe establishing some rules to do it, like allow crunchers setup same email address for the accounts targets to be merged based on the first account created (could be more than two, of course) which ever can be changed for anyone that any cruncher desire, and a possibility to copy and paste the same account key and account ID of the final target account where will be merged all accounts of one colaborator wich prefer do it, and the usage of more ancient account as the account target where all others will be merged with all legacies results, badges, times of processing, points, etc, and create a website profile configuration which facilitate and allow crunchers select it automatically (during the batch time for instance) when decides to do it, and so on.

I'm not a tech or a expert in the technical aspects, but since I saw many informations about it, and I don't have sure but appear that if we select the first account created by one cruncher to be the target account of merging action, and if we allow modify any subsequent account created by this cruncher (two or more, dosen't matter) which need be under cruncher control thrue the ID's and it's password's, we could modify this subsequents accounts to be more identical possible in key characteristics which allow WCG merge this accounts in the first one created, and in this way it will facilitate WCG to provide the merging function and done this work autonmatically and more easily.

Hope be right in this idea...

Probably will be discussed many other innovative and important ideas to help WCG tech team in this problem, including the experience of other BOINC projects that have legacy UD history and in this way help WCG tech team implement it, once there are many ideas proposed in the last 6 years to do it which will probably can fix the problems behind scenes, and facilitate the WCG process to converter/sum/merge accounts in just one, like many people are asking frequently...

Time to be more innovative and attack the problem from other perspectives.
