Hey,
----------------------------------------I'm amateur in Linux, I have once on my PC and I have a lot of troubles with install the latest version of BOINC (6.10.58). I tried a lot of variants, but nothing. Boinc manager is working, but disconnect from localhost. I tried install BOINC from repository in Ubuntu (version 6.10.17), this version is working, but I have ATI GPU card and I want to compute GPU project DNETC. Version 6.10.17 is not able to compute with ATI GPUs. Then I install 6.10.17 version, I tried replace all of the files with latest BOINC version. It was done, but when I tried to start this "replaced" version, it was not connect to localhost. I have spent just 5 hours in my life with this problem and I have not any idea how this repair. Please help. ![]() |

I think 6.10.17 should support ATI cards. But I'm having the same problem with my NVidia card. Somewhere I found that it is some permission stuff, but I have no idea how to grant them to BOINC.

Version 6.10.17 is writing that "No usable GPUs found". I have ATI HD4670 512MB with latest drivers.
----------------------------------------Yes, I mean that our problem is in permissions, but I don't know where we have our problems. ![]() ![]() |

Version 6.10.17 is writing that "No usable GPUs found". You don't believe this. I used to get the exact same message. Haven't done anything and now it suddenly says: Mon 15 Nov 2010 08:11:32 PM EET Starting BOINC client version 6.10.17 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu Mon 15 Nov 2010 08:11:33 PM EET NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 8800 GTS 512 (driver version unknown, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 511MB, 435 GFLOPS peak) Just attached to GPUGrid and it seems to be working. Weird. Two and a half weeks with ubuntu got it going. Let's hope that the time will fix yours too.
