Re: dozens of partially run WU's

The Device Profile page reached through My Grid - Device Manager has a check box. By default you will only get one CEP2 work unit per computer unless you select yes in the box allowing more than one.

Project Specific Settings

Run The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 without restrictions? [ Yes / No ]

The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is limited on how many work units a computer can have downloaded at a time and what minimum bandwidth the computer must have in order to receive any work units. This setting will override those limits.

============================

Hi: I see the 2nd part - do i set it to yes or do i set it to no?

for the 1st part I do not see a check box for allowing more than 1 at a time!

biggrin Re: dozens of partially run WU's

English is a hard to read language, but the emphasis is on "... without restrictions?", with the default being 'No'

The description is plural "limits" i.e. Yes or No applies to both overrides. The line probably would have read better if it said "This setting will override both these limits."

The default setting of a 0.5day cache is for good reason; it’s the recommended setting for most projects. If you are worried about WCG going offline for more than 0.5days don’t be, it is a rare event, and you can always attach to other projects to prevent work loss:
You could configure WCG to have a resource share of 1000 and another project (lets call it a backup project) to have a resource share of 1. That way you would do 99.9% WCG tasks, and should WCG be down you would pick up tasks from other projects. My backup projects include Rosetta, Docking, Malaria Control and Poem.

The two main reasons people keep a high cache (over a day) is that they regularly experience Internet outages/wireless LAN disconnections, or have a configuration where Boinc only uses the Internet at the weekends. There are more reasons to keep a small cache than a large one, and an outage is an opportune time to clean the fans.
