I have Amd athlon 64 processor 2800 +, 1.80 Ghz, 1 GB Ram. My question is how I can more projects to work on same time? Now I only have 1 project working and when this project finish I go to another project. I saw at my cousin that he has 2 projects working at the same time. He has 2 gb Ram. Is it because of that or something else and can I have 2 projects working at the same time or it is to heavy for my computer?

mark, when you say project, do you really mean work units? If so, then it is due to the processor. Some systems have more then 1 processor, at the same time some processor have more then 1 core. Each core can do 1 unit of work (2 if it has hyperthreading).
----------------------------------------if you want to run more then 1 project, then you can just go and attach another project, but I doubt this is what you are referring too. ![]() |

Hello markop619,
By default, BOINC will run as many simultaneous tasks as you have cores. (A core can be thought of as a computer.) Originally, each CPU had only one core. Now, a CPU may have 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 cores. Apparently you have 1 core. AMD makes cores that only run 1 task at a time. Intel makes (some) cores that can run 2 at a time, but each task runs more slowly than only 1 would. Usually the 2 tasks accomplish more per hour than only 1 would. There are technical reasons for this. Right after boot, BOINC Manager lists information about your system in the Messages tab in the Advanced view that can be interpreted to say just what your computer system can do. It is rather cryptic until you understand a lot of technical details. Bottom line - your computer is doing all that it can do already. Lawrence |

Thank you very much guys. I obviously can run 1 project because I have 1 core.
