Can anyone help me. please? My WCG BOINC Manager is displaying a red X with "ERROR" (also in red) in the body of the 'simple view' but nothing else. It gives me a message that it is unable to connect to the Core client. I've tried several times to reconnect via the Manager but all attempts have failed.
What do I do now? I'm not a computer expert (as if you couldn't guess) and I can't find this subject on any of the help lists. |

Hello vemec,
If you are having a problem you need to be in the Advanced view. Then reboot and post thge messages in the Messages tab as soon as you get thye error again. Lawrence |

Thank you for your answer. I've used the Advanced view - Computer- reconnect three times. It still won't work, nor does the retry option. It gives me a drop-down box that says it can't connect to a WCG project. Would it help to try to connect to another of my projects, or what would you suggest? Sorry to be a nuisance, but this has never happened before. Veronica |

This is the first thing we always ask. What is BOINC Manager reporting in the Messages tab? Reboot and post the messages in the Messages tab as soon as you get the error again. Lawrence |

The Manager is completely empty. All the menus and sub=menus are there, but there's nothing in any of the pages. No projects. tasks and no messages.

Hello vemec,
----------------------------------------That is . . . not quite impossible. It indicates a very basic problem. The first thing is to uninstall BOINC and then reinstall from the WCG site. Set it up to run for All Users during the install. If that does not fix it, tell us what OS your system is running and what security programs are running and whether or not Task Manager shows BOINC is running as a Process. Also, describe your system and your Internet access. It may be necessary to give your security some special instructions. I recently had a problem with a poorly coded program on my computer that forced me to establish a special Administrator account that was always Active as Administrator. My personal user account is allowed to upgrade to Administrator if the program challenges me for my password, but this program was not coded for that sort of thing. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm up and running again and I haven't even missed any deadlines. I'm so relieved, Veronica |

Sorry to append to the same conversation, but I am encountering the same issue. When I try to run the client directly I see below.

Tracked the issue down to a missing dependency. When I installed it via the Installation Manager Package (vs the distributed binary) everything works as expected.
Thanks |
