Creating extra profiles.

I know a while back there was a thread that showed how to create more profiles than the current 4 that are shown (default, home, work, school) but I have not been able to find it. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Re: Creating extra profiles.

Well I tried but I must be doing something wrong. I entered the URL listed in the first step and changed the name and hit save. When I went to my device names the new profile was named YOUR PROFILE NAME not the name I typed in and tried to save. What am I missing?

Re: Creating extra profiles.

Change the link you copied into the address-bar to what you want it to be "before" hitting enter. That opens a profile page that has the name in top section of the page which you then can save and stores the name into the WCG profile database. You can delete the profile as well ;-)

I finally figured that out. I edited the device profile page with the code as per the instructions but it still doesn't show the new profile in the drop down menu. If I open the edited HTML file with my browser it's there but if I open it on the website it isn't. Did I miss something else or is that the way it works?

Yup, that's the way it works.

The very reason for having to save and edit the HTML file locally is that, no matter how many "additional" profiles you've added, they would never show up on the drop down menu of the web page directly loaded from the WCG site. So you have to work-around this by using the modified local version of the web page.

OK Thanks for the info. I was hoping to not have to create an additional profile for each device.

Moonian,

Maybe knreed's "to-do" scheduler lost the item, but remembered he was going to facilitate this and sure enough in the message linked below he says so: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ad,25839_offset,20#233357 , same thread a few posts up from your instruction post.

Time flies when one's busy :D

Well, the techs have been keeping occupied by loads of other much more important stuff recently, so even it really exists in their "to-do list", it would probably be located somewhere near the bottom (no compliants here, as that's not an officially supported "feature" after all smile).
