HCC is the only project I crunch. I've noticed the validation process has slowed down and not just on weekends. Since last week, my pages of work units pending validation has grown daily. If someone could check into this, I'd appreciate it.

sierrabound, I doubt there is any real problem. It is most likely that people have increase their cache size due to recent problems at WCG. I myself have increase my cache from 1 day to 1.25 days (still debating on increasing it even more). This is to help make sure I have enough WUs to last if another problem occurs at WCG causing them to be unable to distribute work.

After the servers crashed a few weeks ago, it seemed like the validation process quickened once they were back online. I was down to 25 pages of work units pending validation. Now I am up to 50 pages. Something is not right.

My charts do not indicate any dips in validated work for this research. Right after the crash WCG put more HCC work into the pipes given that there were feed problems for several other sciences and as the techs put it "distribution was unbalanced" for a little, but things seem to normalize again. One science had it's run time increased significantly (HPF2), so that could lead to HCC jobs of wingman that run a mix having to wait a bit longer in the queue. We're watching.

Thanks for your reply, Sekerob. My daily point total has dropped by an average of 15-20,000 points in the past week. I realize the pending work units will eventually get validated. It's just frustrating to see the number of pages of pending WUs increase every day.

We had a build up in results returned but not yet validated last week. Over the past two days we are seeing a catch up in validation.
I have looked at the internal database state and I do not see any sign of a backlog of workunits that 'should' be able to go through validation but aren't. |

Four pages of pendings. How so? Not being a Seeer, one possible reason is [many will not realize], that with the Sendai quake we probably have to mourn some fellow crunchers from a very large contingent in Japan that had HCC/HFCC as focus project but also other sciences. Many stopped their machines by force or by request of their government to preserve electricity. March 11 it happened and thus anticipate that the schedulers will start to distribute quite a few ''lost'' results sometime on Monday. Thanks for your understanding in case some of those tasks were previous committed to these volunteers. --//-- |

It is a problem on the server and not on the clients out in the field. |
