smile Sony support WCG!

I don't remember reading this on WCG main page, although I rarely come here either. Most of the time I just make sure that my BOINC running well. Anyway, here the news:

http://blog.discover.sonystyle.com/vaio-downtime-to-aid-researchers-worldwide
http://news.sel.sony.com/en/press_room/corporate_news/release/58705.html

I hope now our credit per day will surpass HETI@Home. After all, most people doesn't now, and some think it's a hassle to set up & install. With everything in place and a matter of answering yes or no (I could be wrong here, havent bought latest VIAO yet) I'm sure most would said 'yes!'.

Wow.

Re: Sony support WCG!

Yes, it's certainly good news - hopefully, more PC manufacturers will also come onboard, in particular, Lenovo (which really came to the fore when IBM sold it's Personal Computer Division (PCD) in 2005 to form a far larger/worldwide computer manufacturer).

The Lenovo T410 which I'm typing this on and which I bought after being made redundant from IBM 4 months ago, certainly didn't have BOINC preinstalled...

Re: Sony support WCG!

I wish Sony would support WCG on the PS3!
Got two of them sitting around for my family.
Yes I know I could dual boot on Linux, but unfortunately Sony took that option away as well.
A "native" BOINC on the PS3 (and/or XBOX360) that could run in parallel to the PS3 (XBOX) serving as BlueRay Player or MediaServer would be mighty cool.

Re: Sony support WCG!

I do not know if anyone in WCG has connections to Gates or Ballmer, but a real hit would be to have Microsoft endorse WCG and have it as a standard default screen-saver packaged with Windows. wink
