Bouncing Water Droplet on a Superhydrophobic Carbon Nanotube Array

I'm not sure if this is of relevance to C4CW. If not then the admins have to delete the thread.

Hi,
What an interesting link! Although it isn't directly related to the C4CW project, it does highlight the reason for our initial surprise when it was discovered that carbon nanotubes could be filled with water despite being hydrophobic. Another unexpected feat is that the water can flow through the tubes at higher velocities than dictated by hydrodynamics. This effect mimics water transport in cell membranes where water is filtered and transported very efficiently and effectively.

Here are some more closely related popular, though perhaps slightly dated, articles.

Water Molecules March through Hydrophobic Nanotube

Using Carbon Nanotubes For Molecular Transport

For those with access to the scientific journal Science
Fast Mass Transport Through Sub-2 Nanometer Carbon Nanotubes

When the mechanisms for these effects are understood, they could be exploited to make more effective and efficient large scale water filters too.

Thanks for contributing to the project.
