Hi all. I tried to see if there was a similar thread, but could not find any. If I did miss one, I apologize.
I'm trying to run CEP2 WU's on my Ubuntu Hardy machine, and I KNOW it meets the requirements. 8 gigs of ram 36 gigs of disk space etc. However, when I tried to get a CEP2 WU downloaded, I got this error: """ Message from server: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 needs 190.01MB more disk space. You currently have 1857.99 MB available and it needs 2048.00 MB. """ I am not sure how it came to that conclusion. Here is the output from the "df" command:
And just to be sure, I set "Use at most" to 10.00GB in the disk and memory usage tab. Any suggestions? |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Which one of the above is your swap file partition? I Only know Lucid and the PF/VM is on a separate partition of 3.5GB. Rather than you copy typing the values of your Local Prefs Disk/Memory setting, plz make a screen-shot of that window and post. Then we can see the permissions and percentages. Mine are: Use at most 10.00 GB Leave at least 0.25GB free Use at most 85.00% of total disk space Use at most 85.00% of page file The premise is that the BOINC data_dir is exclusive to BOINC use and not shared with programs and data of other applications. We see that sometimes when members have installed for instance to C:\Program Files and not C:\Program Files\BOINC\

This reminds me of the same problem I had whenever I started CEP2 on a new computer. I increased the BOINC Manger's disk usage under Advanced>Preferences>disk and memory usage tab. I increased this requirement by a wide margin (My settings: Disk usage at most 250.0 Gigabytes disk space, Use at most 75% % of total disk space, Use at most 75% of page file (Swap space)) to avoid this issue entirely. How much you increase your disk space usage devoted to crunching depends upon your current needs/disk space requirements for the computer. The default setting is 10 gigs and this setting needs to be increased to run multiple CEP2 WU's.

The settings above are from the web profile share between Windows and Linux in dual boot. It's a quad and runs hands-down 4 CEP2 concurrent... never any messages, always valid.
----------------------------------------I think the key is in the swapfile or the data dir sharing. The Disk Use tab in the BOINC Manager would give information what BOINC thinks it is per project and overall.

Apparently, the moon and the stars and the planets have to align JUST right for it to work. After multiple "apt-get remove"'s and "apt-get install"'s, and several resets of the project, it seems to be working now. Don't ask me what I did to fix it, I have NO idea. :(

The default setting is 10 gigs and this setting needs to be increased to run multiple CEP2 WU's. FWIW I have 2 boxes running CEP2 on quads with 20GB HDDs at the default BOINC settings for disk space. They having been running like that since the project started with a 1 day cache and have had no issues. ![]()

I haven't been able to find a conclusive answer anywhere hope this is the right place. For my swap partition in Ubuntu 10.04.1 is 2GB a good size? Thanks this is my fist time at installing Ubuntu. Have read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq I want to double check 2GB is enough
