I read somewhere a while back that AMD would be releasing 95W 1055T and 1045T model hex cores in the 3rd quarter of 2010. Where are they? I've searched around and haven't seen any more news.

This is the model # listed on the TD add.
----------------------------------------HDT55TFB Phenom II 1055T processor.( The added stuff designates retail box or OEM) According to the AMD website that is the 125W version. HDT55TFB AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X6 1055T 2800 125 W Newegg nor anyone else I can find has an add for the 95W version so I think TD is mistaken. The 95W version is HDT55TWF AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X6 1055T 2800 95 W http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUResult.aspx Even one of the comments on the TD site said it's 125W. EDIT- A closer look on the TD site lists both model numbers in their add. Me thinks they need a proof reader and I'm still guessing this is the 125W version since no one else seems to list it.

In my lean green cruncher nanoprobe - see my sig
---------------------------------------- To get mine I had to buy it bundled with a motherboard and memory (now the second cpuz line in my sig- I recycled the 905E ) I got mine from overclockers.co.uk who seem to have the monopoly on the 1055T 95W edition in the UK. It's running just under 3Ghz a core for 137Watts at the socket which is awesome ......now if I could just shift my 4 pages of "pending validations" Dave ![]() |

It may be OEM only. I have yet to see any retail.
Why have the confusion of two identically numbered parts specd differently? |

The reason I ask is I wouldn't think a 95W processor with that slight of an overclock would pull anywhere near 137W just for the cpu .

that's the entire box
----------------------------------------really efficient corsair psu, intel ssd, passively cooled asus motherboard and passively cooled relatively slow GPU Nvidia 9500GT teamed with 1.5V Kingston DDR3 6 cores sitting at 2.99Ghz The parts list is in the "Can you more with less?" thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,29297 Originally the 905E which drew 99W at the socket I know I'm stunned too. At 137W the whole box is just above ambient. Looking forward to tonight's points update. I'm getting 10 days a day for less than 250W/hr 28Ghz of number crunching in just 2 boxes ![]() |

that's the entire box OK. That's what I thought. I'm waiting to get 95W hex cores to replace my 2 95W quads that are running caseless on 1 PSU. I'm going to have to get a meter to see how many watts that setup pulls. ![]()

Just ogled a very competitively priced I7 760 95W offering in the new Consumer Electronics shop. The old quad has been running now for 4 years none-stop almost and starts to get noisy, very noisy and the electric price took again a leap (now 3 tariffs with the smart power use detection box)... to think that Computing Centers have to consider 2Watts of cooling for every Watts burned by a computer. One of them near here has the roof stacked from front to back with solar panels... about 8 rows deep, probably 100 meters long, each, but heat is heat is a problem even if power itself is lower cost... a serious investment by them... mind you sun here is at a sufficient height most of the year, plus, this wowed, they can change the degrees with some smart mechanics to get maximum solar angularity.
