Re: Badge for participation

Agreed. Many of us don't have the enough computing power to get badges, but still participate. I have contributed as much as possible for the Dengue 2 and Beta projects, but I'm still too far away from the bronze badge... I would like to have it noted that I at least participated on the computing effort. :)

Re: Badge for participation

you must have been digging deep to find justification for your stance
Nope, I just looked on the WCG website, where anyone can find it. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=web#331 Anyway, you are not going to draw me into this for the 47th time so you too can argue that my opinion is wrong. I've said my piece before and so far, my opinion seems to be consistent with WCG policy. Wait and see.

Re: Badge for participation

Astrolab,
I meant you must have been digging deep because the lack of argumentation and relatedness of that policy statement to a "badge for participation". It was about the mental exercise, not the physical. We're not asking to change the bronze badge from 14 to 10 days or something like that.
My questions were mere rhetorical. But if you don't want to get drawn in a discussion, then just don't respond in the thread. Life can be that simple.
I know the chances of this idea becoming reality are slim, that's why I said I rest my case, but if someone responds I just might respond in my turn, which is what I did.

But I still support the idea.

Bart

Agree, and this idea have my 100% support.

Just to coment something a little bit out of this topic but with some correlation...

Badge for participation really could be evaluated by WCG tech team besides some others interesting ideas which are frequent crunchers requests, like the theme of merge accounts discussed in a lot of threads and more recently in the thread:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30370

I just think if this idea will be implemented too, could help some crunchers get some badges (probably few people, but maybe have pertinence !). wink

Re: Badge for participation

I think unfortunately that we have to give up all these discussions on badges, be it for participation or for extended runtimes over the sapphire badge.
Priority is to implement new projects (and I understand that) and the badges are not an issue at WCG.
I think that in a few years when the average machine will be able to reach too easily the sapphire level then maybe things will change.
Until then just feel free to make your own badge and put it in the signature. And you can have a signature from day one without sending even one unit.
