Losing progress on restart [RESOLVED]

Hello,

I'm having some trouble with CEP tasks under linux. since i only run CEP right now i dont know if it is the case with other project, but i'm losing around 10% of progress every time the client restarts work after shutdown. It does not happen when i suspend work and resume it manually, only when i shut down and reboot. Does anyone know what this is caused by?

I'm running Boinc 6.10.17 on Ubuntu.

take care, Jasper

Re: Losing progress on restart

Earfalas,

If suspending and the option is set to Leave App in Memoery, then that is lossless. Opposed, when a tasks is restarted that goes back to the last good checkpoint. Some are short, some are long, so if it happens you booted on a long one then that's a relative bigger percent.

Usually, when I run CEP, I check first where the task is. In task properties you can see when the last checkpoint was saved, with some taking hours, so it pays to watch that.

Re: Losing progress on restart [RESOLVED]

This happened to me with today's Windows update. The restart caused the loss of several hours of crunching. I'll be more careful next time.
