I've been scanning the forum and see we have similar interests in helping humanity. Although I see by your sigs you are doing a much better job of that than I am. My lowly iMac is only providing meager power and yours' are way up there. That must be the secret. What are you using? Can you point me to threads that coach newbies on contributing more? I'll be a member over a year at this rate before I can even earn one of SNURK's first globes. Frustrating. Thanks for any thoughts.
----------------------------------------I just got a Raspberry Pi to play with so I might unleash that (just kidding, I know it isn't WCG compatible). ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by terrymac5 at Mar 6, 2013 8:26:06 PM] |

As written by SNURK in the "common old signature", you just need to change the link in your signature : Old link : http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/wcgsig/259281.gif New link : http://www.wcgsig.com/259281.gif ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by olivier3191 at Mar 7, 2013 12:32:00 AM] |

I just got a Raspberry Pi to play with so I might unleash that (just kidding, I know it isn't WCG compatible). Hello terrymac5, There is not a single reason to underrate your contribution. People with higher scores than yours use generally more computers and/or more powerful ones. I am using 2 computers. One (Win7) which is 100% dedicated to WCG crunching and one iMac (mid 2011, 4-threads i5-2550S), which is my primary PC. Both are crunching 24/7 and both are crunching with 100% CPU's. Since I joined this Community on June 29 2012, my iMac contributed with 2.5 years of computing time, so it alone might approach SNURK's Silver Globe (43.8 days Run time / prj). IDK the configuration of your iMac, but if you are willing to dedicate it 24/7, you will soon reach (at least) Bronze Globe (when you finish 294 days of computing time) W/o guys like you are, there will be no WCG and no distributing computing at all - your contribution is for WCG important as much as any other's, so keep smiling and keep crunching Cheers and good luck ![]() ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000.
