Switch DNS in your router/modem to OpenDNS, IP 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123 and see if you can get passed the hurdle. All my hosts point to my router as the DNS server, so it's an on-the fly switch for me without having to do the rounds

I tried the all the URLs with chrome, FF, and safari. All fail. So it is not a browser issue. And I have no security SW at all. So if any filtering is going on, it is on the site side. Like sekeRob said, could just switch to OpenDNS, or could use Google's Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Or primary from OpenDNS and secondary from Google DNS (or vice versa). If you're interested in a little more thorough troubleshooting, first thing you want to do is check your "hosts" file under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ to make sure that you don't have an entry that sends net78.net to 127.0.0.1 or something (or a bunch of bogus entries...typically your hosts file under Windows 7 - which a quick check suggests is your primary O/S - would only be a lot of remarks denoted by a leading "#" symbol). If you have a bunch of entries in there with no leading "#", then you might have a bot or be running an antivirus that redirects known malicious sites. But the key thing is see if there is an entry for anything net78.net in your hosts file - there shouldn't be. If you find one, put the "#" without the quotation marks in front of the line, and save the hosts file. Second thing you want to do is open a privileged command window (run as administrator) and type ipconfig /flushdns and then try again. If it still doesn't work, in that same command window type (the IP address on the line is the name server used) nslookup www.sig.net78.net 208.67.220.123 nslookup www.sig.net78.net 8.8.8.8 nslookup www.sig.net78.net [Your ISP DNS IP addy] The first two, at least, should resolve to the same IP address (31.170.162.103). If they do but your ISP gives something else back, then you definitely need to set static DNS server addresses in either whatever serves DHCP (your router, typically) on your network or on the systems themselves. |

Many thanks for this detailed troubleshooting info ibsteve2u
---------------------------------------- . Good thing you mentioned the hosts file, where a reference to net78.net could be hiding. And thanks Sekerob for bringing up the OpenDNS option. I hope this will help some people get out of the woods. Added one more signature: http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/wcgsig/395368.gif ; Jeff17 |

Snurk, I asked for a signature in April but you still haven't posted a link to it yet (at least that I've seen), where is the love? :( Thanks!
