C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

Curious, for the past week my Intel Mac has received/processed 10 C4CW WUs and the Mac PPC has not received any. The system requirements for C4CW do not exclude PPC processors. Both computers are happily crunching away on what ever WU comes it's way. Heck, even my Windows and Linux computers have joined the C4CW party. I just thought it curious that the poor old Mac G5 PPC has thus far been left out of the H20 party. raised eyebrow Maybe one day good forunes will come it's way. praying

Re: C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

I have an old Mac G4 laptop and all it does is crunch C4CW WU's, and I have the profile set to only receive C4CW WU's. Try setting your G5 to receive only C4CW and that should work.

Re: C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

codes,

Push your luck and add/create a device profile (there are default, school, work, home) with only C4CW selected as RaymondFO proposes. Then associate the PPC to that profile and increase the buffer a bit so it starts calling for work. You'll then find out if it's really available for your PPC or a message appearing that specs are insufficient.

There is no homogeneity rule i.e. most jobs go out without a wingman and in mixed profile there are still not many. Most get grabbed by the exclusive crunchers that make it to the pipe. As is WCG's practice, new sciences are started slowly so we don't end up with thousands of devices that are bogged down should a previously hidden bug appear.

Re: C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

Created a work device profile for only C4CW and increased the cache from .25 to 1 day. My PPC Mac is currently crunching a HFCC WU and is estimating 13.5 hours to complete. I clicked the Update button, but didn't receive any C4CW. I'll check it again when the HFCC WU get's closer to being processed. sleep

Re: C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

When finished doing sleep post that client's start up message log, those famous 30 lines. More eyes might see something you don't ;-)

"... did'nt receive any C4CW..."

Whilst you may have increased your cache to 1 day it may not be that it was high enough to ask for work as the current remaining could still be more. Hit update to test if is says it's not fetching anything.. the positive or negative feedback, then increase the cache a little bit until it starts a fetch request. When it does, lower the cache setting again.

Re: C4CW - Mac Intel vs Mac PPC

OK, so reading that log:

"Work" is the device profile that is associated

The

Fri Sep 3 15:03:20 2010 World Community Grid Not reporting or requesting tasks

indicates there is no work required, which will also be the case when there are suspended tasks or when work fetch in the Project tab was switched off.

Seems to me your specs are more than sufficient to get C4CW.
