Hi Folks,
Apologies in advance for asking a question that has probably been answered before but, after a quick search, I couldn't find it. My question is simple: What is the first version of BOINC that is compatible with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit? I'm planning to replace my desktop PC soon and switch my WCG work from a Windows XP Pro SP3- based PC to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Thanks in advance. JPC |

Looks left, looks right, no Ingleside.
---------------------------------------- First ready for W7-64Prof, 64 bit is 6.2.18 as final recommended for the 6.2 series without WCG customizations, WCG only offering 32 bit, but I've prodded to have a 64 bit kit for 6.10 as this platform just races through HCC and C4CW (on Linux). 6.10.58 is fine for anyone who runs not too exorbitant buffers i.e. below 5 days. And many thanks to you too, Sekerob!
It's good to see that you're still very much part of the fabric of these forums. As you can see, I don't post very often (understatement) but I remember your name from when I first signed up to WCG. Thanks again for further clarification. JPC |

Looks left, looks right, no Ingleside. First ready for W7-64Prof, 64 bit is 6.2.18 as final recommended for the 6.2 series without WCG customizations, v6.2.xx-clients doesn't correctly report win7, but appart for this I don't know of any win7-specific issues with v6.2.xx... WCG only offering 32 bit, but I've prodded to have a 64 bit kit for 6.10 as this platform just races through HCC and C4CW (on Linux). Don't remember if this change was included in v6.10.18, but atleast with the latest v6.10.xx-clients, even a 32-bit BOINC-client will download & use the 64-bit application as long as a project has made any available, and the user runs a 64-bit OS. ![]() "I make so many mistakes.
