This means that at current rate we have still 304.48 days left in front of us or just over one year. At your current rate of 2 CPU days per day, and if nothing changes you will just make it to sapphire. yeah lets hope so. my dad is working on his "year-cycle solar project" ..short answer we are in a race working on solar stuff :P I'm using this project to prove i'm working towards the goal :P (yeah it's a bit cheating but it'll do till i get my Fresnel lens and my grid-tied steam engine contraption set up :) ) Adding a little bit of crunching power is also a way to improve your sapphire chances. ![]() I'm hoping to get some more machines from Goodwill that I could use the 3 I'm looking at all need me to add ram but it'll be worth it. Thanks for the insight |

Hypernova, some of your numbers non-plus me. Where did you get 2 years daily? It's ~4 since weeks. If 0.18% were the right number then applying that to the already computed time makes it 140,000 CPU years. Not quite ;>)
----------------------------------------Crunching on... need 80 more CPU days till Ruby.

Where did you get 2 years daily? Sek I think you mixed things up. I never said that. He are are extracts of my post just above: The grid's daily rate is 3 years and 288 days (3.79). and then At your current rate of 2 cpu days per day I suppose you mixed these two phrases through a very well known mental phenomena "lapsus cerebrum video lego cogito" which generated the contraction "2 years per day". ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hypernova at Sep 3, 2010 8:23:17 AM] |

I think that Sekerob was referring to this part:
----------------------------------------The Chart from Sek mentions 0.18% done up to now. The projet stats say that 253 years and 117 days (253.32) have been consumed up to now. This means that the total projects CPU time is estimated at 1407.33 cpu years. That made me frown too. A quick "contrĂ´le de vraisemblance" (plausibility check?) should have kept you from posting that. |

Taking into account latest and corrected data and rounding it on the upper side for some margin, the results are very worrying.
----------------------------------------275 years cpu time elapsed. Project status 19%. Daily rate is 5 CPU years. Total project CPU time is 1447 years. Conclusion there are 234 days left that is under 8 months. I am afraid when the Windows version comes out there may be a fierce fight for the badges. The daily consumption will increase to 30 or 40 years cpu time. Big crunchers will chip in full power to get the sapphire badge and there will not be enough for everybody. At 30 years runtime per day there will be barely over a month left. ![]() ![]() |

Hypernova, plz no uncalled repeat panic button operations. Really, read the other posts on sensible estimations. It's a year in my book, WITH Windows on board, to include that CEP2 is bigger than CEP1. When not, the techs would not even bother to spend weeks and weeks to code around the performance issues and let it be done on Linux as a lure to move more across and capitalize on the HCC/C4CW speed gain on the go. Phase 2 would be done before the end of October by your reasoning.

Big crunchers will chip in full power to get the sapphire badge and there will not be enough for everybody. So what? I thought the object was to complete the project. I sincerly hope no one jumps out the window of a tall building because they can't get a silly blue badge. ![]() ![]() |
