Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Has anyone else noted how slow these WU's are to start?? It was more than 20mins before the first increment was made on the progress and the timer started to decline - from that point it went quite quickly, but what a slow start.....

There seems to be some kind of initialisation phase that takes up to 40 minutes (on my not-that-fast computer) -- but once the crunching starts for real it does so in a very regular and linear fashion.

BTW, I got a d449 at 18:39 UTC... the first patches of blue sky are appearing and the rain is getting less and less wink

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Are those WU actually valid? I mean 2.4 mins?
The 2.4 is the as yet unrewarded credit, and it moves me towards the 50M WCG points target just as quickly tongue
That tasks time was 0.15hours, or 9min to a person; "0.15 2.4 / 0.0"

If the drips last another 2days I should reach Blue, assuming the flow rate continues as is, and my cache remains similar. After that I guess it would still take a day or two to clear my cache and up to the 4th Aug for wingmen to report back. Even then the need for resends could impede any would be arrival.

I think this rain will be over in less than a day. 24 hours ago I was receiving d30x, now I'm downloading d45x.

The last batch has started...

So the rain lasted a lot longer than the rate in the beginning indicated. Great! smile

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

This session started on the 19th, for me around 18:00 with an a048 and ended on the 26th around 03:00 when a d488 came in. Give or take 6.4 days on 216.4k tasks or 34000 per 24 hour period were allowed to be drafted. Maybe this will be helpful to know when the next rain passes over [of similar size].

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

All my machines have been reset to normal, (been crunching DDDT2 & Beta only for last week) as the rain has finished.

Hopefully I have enough WUs in cache to get to my next badge.

Any idea when the next rain will come?

Patrick

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

I've also went back to my 'normal' profiles too.
I doubt that I will reach Blue this time - my guesstimate puts me about 5days short, but it just depends on how long the cached tasks take and with the run-time variety it's difficult to estimate. Pity one system was starved (wi-fi contention o/h), or I would have definitely made it. At least Ralph did well out of it, though it didn't always save the day. Hopefully not, but even if I have to wait a few months to change colour for me this project is back to set and forget
