I have the feeling that BOINC isn't known to well in the world, so i was thinking maybe it should put a "post o facebook" button on the homepage
and maybe some other popular networking sites like twitter or ... and i was thinking maybe someone talented could make a epic youtube clip as somewhat commercial what do you guys think? |

Your thought is very good, but BOINC is already all over Facebook.

One way of letting friends know about WCG is using the "Tell A Friend" feature. It gives you 3 pre-formated e-mails so you just put your name and your friend's address and you're ready to "spread the word".
But, be careful though, some of those texts are a bit outdated. For example: "World Community Grid is being used to develop more nutritious strains of rice. The project will be completed in less than two years, compared to the 200 years required by conventional computer systems." Option B) has an updated list of active projects. That's what I'd choose. P.S.: I think it's time to check all three messages. |

Hello,
I use the folloing methods to make WCG more known: - leaving comments about WCG on topic related internet forums, i.e. forums about cancer - making comments on video sites like youtube, especially comments on topic related videos, i.e. videos about science. You can do this more efficiently by using the method copy and paste,. This means that you have the comment text about WCG as an e-mail text, you mark the text and paste it. You can use CTRL+C and then CTRL+P. This means that you make the same comment informing about WCG all the time. But use this carefully, please, politely, and not too much Greetings Martin Schnellinger |

it is hard to get people convinced to do it for some strange reason I will try here a tentative list, you can add stuff: 1) It is an excuse to take control of our machines and use to them for some dark military plan. (Political conspiracy) 2) Safety. The machine runs continuously over the internet. We do not know what really happens, viruses etc.. (Fear) 3) Reliability. Will not my machine wear fast by running continuosly. It is outside my control anyway, it may crash, conflict with what I do etc. etc. (Fear) 4) It is a way to use our money and our machines for free to develop products that will then be used by others to make a fortune. (Economical conspiracy) 5) These local running software are spying all what we do over the computer and internet for marketing, profiling etc.... (Economical conspiracy) 6) Aliens are everywhere. All these computer grids are interconnected and our lives are under control from aliens. (ET conspiracy) nasher I hope it made you smile, bot none of the above is absurd even the 6th point. After all what do we really know ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hypernova at Aug 31, 2010 9:25:07 AM] |

Let's hope the imminent announcement of the C4CW in China will significantly increase that countries contribution; 4000 odd crunchers from 1.3Billion people is not great. The ratio of crunchers in France per capita is very high.
