I had errors on my lappy this week. It also had weird issues with bursts of lag where the entire system wouldn't respond for a few seconds. It ended up being a thumb drive I forgot I set up for Ready Boost. Evidently the memory stick has begun to fail. After removing the thumb drive and rebooting, laptop runs perfect again. So, check your hard disks/flash memory to make sure it isn't a storage issue.

[ot] Does Linux give better points, or just the same as windows. I keep hearing that it is about 50% faster for HCC, but do people get 50% more points using the current system or not? If it is faster it should reward better. Perhaps an x64 app would help change the points system – which may be in need of a rethink given the CPU time vs reported time situation.[/ot] skgiven,Since you are aware this is perfectly off topic please refrain from posting that here: first you are spoiling e real problem investigation, and next this really interesting topic would be mishandled in a thread completely unrelated. Please open a dedicated thread in the BOINC Agent Support forum if you want to go any further on this topic (and then I will participate). And others, please do not keep this off topic running. |

In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Did you reduce the o/c ![]() Nothing's changed. Glad we fixed it then! (icon for tongue-in-cheek). Oh well...things like that usually come back unless something is changed. For now, glad you are running well again. Thanks for contributing to the WCG. ![]() |
