running boinc offline

Hello

I've email the programmers a few times and have gotten the answer "it runs offline" My question was "how do I run boinc offline without popups"

I need to run offline because I can't afford an internet connection. I download enough work units for 5 days at a hotspot and go home. Soon as I take my laptop out of standby the popups from boinc start.

Well through pure luck I've found the answer.

1/ Find an internet connection.
2/ Start boinc.
3/ Allow to download what you need.
4/ When uploading and downloading is finished suspend network activity.
5/ Set cashe for 1 day. Steps 4 and 5 seem to be the key.
6/ Leave boinc running for about an hour (I used to turn it off when I only had 1 gig of memory)

I've done this twice and for several days without an internet I don't get popups.

Scott

Re: running boinc offline

If you go into the Options screen set the slider to 0 (zero), that should stop reminders. Also you can set the Activity menu to Network Suspended. These are my settings and get never told other than when deadlines are close and the client wants to make sure I'm aware of that.
