When a new project begins on WCG, it is quickly announced on the website especially on the home page.
I first noticed this new project yesterday by browsing through the forum and quickly opted in. If I had not done that, I would not have known it. Why did WCG not announce this new project from the first day on the home page? Maybe WCG is waiting to do this in conjunction with the official announcement from China sometime next month. In the future, I suggest WCG sent out an email to all members to remind them that a new project went online and to increase awareness. |

If you had the Auto Opt-In ticked in your Device profile(s), WCG would have automatically ticked the box for you. This is the option: X Please opt me in to new projects as they become available. Was it? If so, there is a known bug that somehow misses to do this for a few members. Can't remember to have heard if it was fixed since previous general project launch.

I find it very useful to get my news from RSS feeds. I have RSS feeds set for every possible project and web page at WCG and about 10 other projects running BOINC on which I "crunch". I got news of this new project by getting it's opening forum post as a feed.

think of it this way.. its not that they didn't mention the launch... the official launch isn't until September. so those of us who read the board and such were given a heads up it would be a quiet launch till the September official launch time.

Since there are no news for this project, I can't test by myself  |

Right. This project is still in pre-announcement mode.

Since there are no news for this project, I can't test by myself Was involved in the original start of the WCGwikia and trialling some filters to only get the right news et cetera, we used unique or combinations of lesser unique words to code the filters etc on the individual research pages. Think the unique key for C4CW would work with 'water'. If I remember well there were multiple filters to include names of the PI and other scientists to catch as much as possible, but have not touched anything there in past 18-20 months. edit: removed hyperbole.

1 + 2 pre-announcements ... talk about a concerted and co-ordinated PR effect by WCG.
