Hey everyone!
----------------------------------------I was glad to get some DDDT2 WUs yesterday. Most of them are "pq"-types and are all finishing around the same runtime of ~2.2h without any error. But there is one WU which is bevahing a little bit strange: ts05_a431_pqb006 It's running for almost 6 hours at full load now and seems to be stuck at 71.833% for around 4hours now. My wingman already finished the work, but there seems to be error or something else on my site. Should I just leave it running and hope that it will finish correct although I doubt that? Or abort it? Just for the record: I'm using Kubuntu 10.04 (64bit) on a Intel Core i7 920.
Cheers,

Hi Rarusu, although I haven't heard of an instance of a DDDT2 WU becoming stuck like which you've described, it might be worthwhile shutting down/restarting BOINC and seeing as to whether it then makes any progress.
----------------------------------------Doing this, will force it to restart again from the last checkpoint it took. Alternatively, you could restart your computer - as that'll have the same result, with the added benefit of clearing down/restarting the complete system so that there's no chance of anything else in the background affecting things... Please report back here and let us know how things have gone on (and, if it's still stuck, we'll need to do some further investigations...). |

Thanks for the quick reply. I already tried restarting the BOINC client on it's own and by rebooting the whole system before I posted the problem in here (ok, I could have mentioned it.). But nothing changed - still stuck.

Okay, I think that this may need the advice of a CA/WCG tech - as they may find useful some of the logs that are associated with this particular WU.
----------------------------------------So, I'd be tempted to keep it going for, probably another hour at least, and by then, hopefully they'll have responded to this thread (by which time, there may have been some progress). If not, then I'd be tempted to Suspend that WU pending their advice. |

Hah! I have no clue why it happened, but the WU just passed the point where it was stuck for so long! So, the WU solved it's problem on it's own.
----------------------------------------Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hum... I was just thinking about this.. It would be nice to know what others have experienced with the same work unit. I say this becuase I have a couple of machines on Ubuntu and it seems to me that they run slower than they did on Win7 (same quad). Anyone got any light to shed on this?

The same feeling on my side. On Win7 the WUs seem to have a little bit shorter runtime (maybe around 15minutes?). BUT I get a much higher credit/hour ratio on Kubuntu (around 300 credits/hour) than on Win7 (only around 200 credtis/hour).
----------------------------------------Both on the same hardware and on 64bit OS. Anyone else with such experiences?

300 points/hour or 43 credit/hour... tell us what wonder machine that oh wait an I7-920 ... us it the Linux box in the middle http://boincstats.com/stats/host_stats.php?pr=wcg&st=0&userid=189169 which shows 0.011815 per second or 42.5 per hours... wow. Still my little aging quad does about 1500 a day or 15.6 per hour [per core], on Linux Lucid 64 bit.

Oops, I did mean points/hour from WCG, not the BOINC credit/hour. That would be a little bit too much
----------------------------------------By the way, is there a concrete factor to get from one to the other?
Cheers,
