After a month only on Linux, the picture is showing the hard stuff is underway and by the time the Windows and Mac versions come, it will either be a run time undulating curve or it will be stuck midway of the chart, that light blue line... at 12 hours average,
---------------------------------------- NB: Percent progress is based on estimated end time and as always very much subject to change if number of tasks would get known or shares change or an interlude is invoked and a dozen other reasons why any science might speed up or slow down (and certainly if CEP2 finds that more stuff needs examination through the CEP1 pipe :-). As always, will periodically update the picture as and when revelations come through.

Ha! I can see a nice jump on the graphic around the 15th of july... That's when many crunchers jumped in the Linux adventure realising the Win/Mac version would take some time to come out...
---------------------------------------- Fascinating graphic; thanks for sharing it Sekerob. ![]() |

I also appreciate this chart but i need to ask, there has got to be a set amount of work to be done. where do i find out how much is left to do? or at least a base number of how long it would have taken if not for the WCG.

I much appreciate these charts -- both informative and artistic!
----------------------------------------One question: I don't understand what the purple line represents. The key seems to say "Project day (m)." Thanks! ![]() |

Read as one line, the colors indicating what line belongs to what key:
----------------------------------------Credit per Task Hour & Project Day (m) as in Credit per Task Hour & Credit per Project Day (millions) It's all about economizing on the available space. Maybe I'll change the & into ''+'' and set the "Credit" and plus sign in black. Would that make it clearer than mud? edit: Ctrl-F5 for considered revision.

alot of these programs have long time estimates because that is how long it would take the scientists to do the work with there own computers and own selfs.
----------------------------------------yes WCG gives them the ability to concur tasks that they would not even think of trying to do without help. Well since we have DDT2's again i am happy enough waiting for the windows version of CEP2 ![]() |

well i know without WCG and other grids like it this stuff wouldn't be even tried BUT
----------------------------------------My question is understanding the chart. I got my year number from the cpu years of 4.19 and that "progress" was 0.12% my math comes to 3491 years and 8 months I'm asking if those were the correct numbers to use to get the "how long to do without WCG help" number of years. i need this number so i can grab peoples interest in this project and the WCG in general. Edit added below i have friends that have read "hitchhikers guide to the galaxy" the metaphor I'm using to describe what we do here is "we're the mice, speeding up the question to 42" :) if you haven't seen/read this story, (or you have no idea what "42" is) take the time to do it :) you won't be disappointed [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 12, 2010 2:46:12 AM] |

Recently completed project, NRW, aka Rice
Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) 25761:138:02:06:28 Yes that is 25,761 years + and rice was, as WCG projects go, a short one |
