Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 44smilesmile

I just got a $652 electric bill. Edison just loves to rip off us Californian's so I'm going to shut off everything I don't need to survive!
I called and complained and they put a freeze on my account so they can review my tiers.
It's time to move out of this f'upd state...

I flip/floped on you again Dubby. I reinstalled Ubuntu on that old machine again (knowing a few things that I did not before) and got everything working. It just returned its first HCC work unit. Still tinkering with it. smile

If you have an Ubuntu box running, you can put it in its own profile (I used school) and just feed it the CEP2 wu's. It's doesn't take long before it starts building up the hours and days. Since that is all that box does, I've already got 11 days on it!

That was my plan -- Great Minds rolling eyes .. But.. It turns out that this old dog does not have enough memory to run CEP2. sad Still it will run some of the others and gives me something to play with that is different and does not cost an arm and a leg like Windows 7. smile

Good Morning MOT smile smile coffee coffee

I hate to think about my electric bill. We have and at least 2 extra people here for about a month..with all of them coming and going. I love it but they are consumptave of not only electricity but food and and and... Oddly enough even though we live only about 12 miles from a Nuclear power plant, we have had significant power outages for the past two days. ... has caused me to lose quite a bit of crunch time as the outages occur in the middle night and I don't get around to all the computers till in the mornings.

I could old friend but I looked up the memory. Based on the fact that I would have to remove 128Mb sticks and install in their place larger 512MB sticks and Crucial does not have compatible memory it would end up costing about $250. The only thing spending that money would get me is the ability to run the CEP2 WUs. It just does not seem reasonable to spend that much money on that old machine that could be toast at any point. $250 would get me about 1/4 the way to a new I7 860 or thereabouts. Just one of those trade-offs. But Ubuntu seems to be running fine with the machine running HCC WUs.

The Microsoft tag on the side of the case indicates the machine came with Windows 98 installed. smile

It's time to move out of this f'upd state...

On the news today they said hundreds of thousands of people and business are moving out of California----i spent about a year in LA in 1966-77-and felt earth quakes so i decided to get out of Dodge. Then i went up to Washington State for about a year--i was young and just bumming around the Country--i could tell you some wild and crazy tales---
