Re: Images of the Crystalline Samples

Yes - when we started the project we had about 85 million images; we have over 115 million images now. We regularly transfer images to WCG servers for processing, and download results from WCG. Old/processed images are archived on LTO4 tapes.

thank you all for contributing to HCC and other projects.

sincerely,

Igor

Re: Images of the Crystalline Samples

Why are the processed images stored in LTO4 tapes and not digitally? I hope you store it x2 to be sure nothing are missed.

What is your estimate of the amount of data stored?

Re: Images of the Crystalline Samples

A single result upload is about 65k and a task download is about 100k if that helps to equate the total once we're done.

Re: Images of the Crystalline Samples

At the start of HCC, we had over 20 TB of image data. This number has grown, as Igor mentioned. These images are compressed and converted to JPEG-2000 format before sending them out as HCC work units -- perhaps 7 TB once they are all converted. The storage needs for the HCC results. once complete, will be about the same.
