I came back to WCG specifically for this project, and although happy to support others, I'd like to be trying to solve the world's energy problems. This is (at least for me) the major thing facing the world today, as energy dictates everyone's living conditions. Rich and poor (third world) alike. Today, food production and distribution depends entirely on energy. Nutritious rice is good, but this is fundamental. Please, how soon is phase 2? |

They can't tell us until they know, so you have to wait until they tell us because they will tell us when they know and then you will know.
It is sometimes difficult to remain patient but you have to remember that you are only one of 500,000 crunchers and sometimes we do not get an answer and sometimes we do not get an answer that we want. |

What we DO know, is that there have been some Beta tests run for CEP2 - as to how those went (they were only run on Linux platforms I believe), and as to whether there'll be any/many more Beta's required (I'd guess, that there'll certainly be at least 1 Beta run on other platforms), that is for the techs to know, and for us to find out in due course
----------------------------------------As always, patience is something we can't rush - as, after all, who'd seriously want a project to launch when it wasn't ready??? |

In good crunching projects there is a collaboration between the scientists and crunchers. This means more than crunchers crunch unquestioningly, it means that information - both good and bad - is shared. WCG does a good job of this, CEP less so. Sharing information about what they are working on and how things are going increases the morale and scientific understanding of the crunchers. Communication does not have to happen every day or every week, but it should happen monthly. Please don't give me this "You will know when they know." Scientists already know the status because they are the ones working on it. I will support CEP regardless because I think it is so important, but we should not go months without news.

Maybe missed, this news article of April 19 does show up in the Research Update filter:
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewNewsArticle.do?articleId=127 filter: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/di...amp;sortBy=&pageNum=1 2nd Beta is well underway and but for a large disk use issue not seen anything reported that is of show stopping nature.
