Calculating the Flops

Good idea to 'Get a Thread' lol
Perhaps Sek if you have time you would be so kind
to move all the posts in those two threads (hardware news
and the 400 teraflop machine) to this one, that will
clean up your threads and consolidate them here for
future reference and reflection (I'm mostly not confused now
but will be again i'm sure)

Re: Calculating the Flops

Let's see... Once upon a time when Linux BOINC was implemented at WCG concurrent with the UD agent and it's benchmark was 55% of the equal BOINC Windows client [not used at WCG], the techs figured out that 1 BOINC Linux credit for CPU time was equal to 7 WCG points of UD agent Windows wallclock time. From there on it becomes all so extreme in fuzzy logic that it's dizzying... was there inflation or hypernoval inflation? Fortunately, the crunch standard BOINC credits have always been maintained without any conversion applied, so whether we take 800,000 points or 700,000 points or whatever [dog year] points, our TFL are still cobblestone based... 100,000 equals 1 TFL, which gives our neural connected WCG machine a solid enough flooring to know that XXX TFL is representative value.

(Just dreamed up this fairytale :O) ... or is it ?

PS: Can't move posts with this forum software... whole threads can be. You'll have to tabulate and x-ref relevant posts.

Re: Calculating the Flops

Well that sux (about moving posts)
It was more about cleaning up your threads then
the points. I'm sticking with points/700=Gflops,
though the conversation was interesting. Being
between jobs has been boring. well you can nuke
this thread then, unless i can if i can't feel free,
since posts can't go anywhere.
