Limit time of work, and offline work.

I have two question, which I couldn't find on FAQ (maybe my keywords is wrong?) anyway:

1 - Is there any limit for time spend on a work / job? For example let say at my office in the friday evening BOINC download new job to work on, and is at 75% completed. Would it expired by monday morning? I know there are status as 'Too Late' for completed job - but how late is too late? If the job is expired, would it still process the 25% left? I know I will find this out this friday, but I would love to ask anyway smile

2 - I have a free net book lying around (that came with the broadband connection), and I want to put it to good use. Can I donnect it to the internet, download works / jobs - then pull it out, and connect it back in again when the job is completed?

3 - Is it okay to use the same username for all installation (work, home, netbook)? If it's okay and there is no overlapping work, then it's ok. I don't need complexity. I just want to install and let it run.

Re: Limit time of work, and offline work.

hi fablefox,

the keyword in the Start Here FAQ's is Deadline, which currently is generally 10 days for regular jobs, so your Frday job done at 75% can be continued on Monday, week after and still be in time. There are about a dozen topics that touch on the matter...

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=0&sort=1&rows=20

but the one closest to look for is this one:

BOINC: Deadlines for Standard & Rush Tasks and What Clients Get These

Yes, you can register as many devices as you like under same member. You may disconnect, but then suggest in the BOINC Manager to set the Activity menu option: Network Activity Suspended and switch back on when connected again.

Please do not cache more than what you know you can complete before the deadlines. Too Late results cause extra copies to be send out, which is a true waste and causes batch completion delays.
