After my disastrous attempt of crunching HPF2 I was innundated with errors with 0.0 sec. This means immediate exit.
----------------------------------------But in the end a certain number of devices after having generated a certain number of errors became idle as they would not receive anymore tasks from WCG servers. I switched them to other projects but this did not change anything. So they sit idle. Here is the error message: ![]() The daily limit quota varies on each device, 8, 12 or 24 ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Hypernova at May 28, 2010 5:09:32 AM] |

Hypernova, it will reset itself at midnight, UTC - and slowly build itself up again with the successful return of Valid results. Thus, just ensure (like I think you will have done), that you'll be downloading work other than HPF2

The daily limit quota varies on each device, 8, 12 or 24 The explanation can be found on the FAQ page: BOINC: Daily Tasks Quota and what Increases / Decreases these. It will change as soon as you return valid results. Regards, Martin ![]() |

Yes, they should be crunching again already while I am writing this. If not, force a manual project update in case some devices are on a long backoff mode.
----------------------------------------As the quota double with every returned successfully completed** WU you should be quickly back to the max 80 jobs per thread per day, especially if you have switched to the speedy HCC project.. Knowing your setup I think the minimum quota should have been 8 for all your 8-thread machines and 12 for the 6-core ones. Probably some of them have not returned enough errors for reaching the lowest, or you now have a double 6-core that I have missed... ![]() Edit: ** It is counted even before being actually validated. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at May 28, 2010 2:47:05 AM] |

This morning all planets are back again in orbit. During the night they all updated automatically. All is fine. Back to work.

Hypernova, after similar experiences and some research, I recommend people crunch for more than one type of WCG project at a time, but this is especially important on your i7 systems.
There are several benefits: Obviously there is less chance of runaway failures, resulting in near death experiences (bad profiles and outages). The overall credits tend to be slightly higher (on average) when you crunch multiple projects on the same rig. If there are no tasks for one project you will pick up tasks from YOUR other chosen projects. If you had been using a very low cache, you might not have had to wait so long, but when you run 2 or 3 projects there is no need to keep a very/dangerously low cache level. It is also a good idea to check online for Errors - to catch them early. Good luck with the other work units, ![]() |
