I really hope the next batch (in 2 months?) will be added to the current badge, because I'm almost there but I'm not going to make it this time.
----------------------------------------(I have 5 wu's in progress, I got the last one yesterday afternoon)

Get only repair jobs, so they all seem to be gone since yesterday.

For now, I've got the last WU (HFCC_s2_02860314_s2) on 2010-05-22 at 18:24 !
----------------------------------------It was not a repair job. Cheers, Yves |

I'm getting close to my sapphire goal and have just now aborted 40 WUs for my my fellow badge hunters' crunching pleasure
![]() I need to wait another day (or two) before I drop more extras (maybe another 60) back into the bucket. |

yessssssss... I finally made it to my first sapphire... this was important to me especially for THIS project. I'll abort those units which have not started crunching yet in order to give other badge hunters to reach their own goal
Good luck and congrats to all! |

Please do not abort WU. It is extra load for WCG servers and you delay project finish. There will be pletny of new WU for all badge hunters.

I strongly support Randzo's comment !
----------------------------------------PLEASE do not abort WUs ! By aborting WUs, you are causing a lot of troubles, delays, and unnecessary overhead as well. Cruncher respectively computer reliability is much more important than badges ! Finally, in case of aborted WUs, the faster and most reliable computers will receive the rescheduled work ! (not the slow one). Cheers, Yves |

KerSamson.. at the end of projects its a common thing to see people who are badge hunting to the last abort jobs when they get there badge level so others can also get them.
----------------------------------------i am sure its not a TON of extra overhead... and besides its there computers crunching they can choose to abort any/all WU's as they please. just cause a faster more reliable computer will get the WU doesn't mean they don't need it either. myself when i realized i would have a hard time getting the next badge i swapped projects but that was at least 2 months ago so there wasn't a WU crunch then. yes i know more WU's will be coming in the future. remember it is more important to get and keep people crunching even if they have erratic behaviors with aborting WU's when they dont need that type or whatever. the only time aborting WU's caused an issue was with the RICE project since each WU was actualy a bit different even though they were a set. @ Randzo - people want to get there badge before the wait time cause we all know that there are sometimes delays and cancels and changes of mind. Yes there is plans for new jobs and they expect them in 2 months or so but also knowing how this world works sometimes 2 months becomes never or 2 years and sometimes they may decide to change the concept of the work for better research on there end and may change it to a type 2 badge or a different project type... alot of badge hunters probably dont want to risk that. also i keep remembering those whatever commercials "its my badge and i want it NOW". oh wait those commercials were about money :P ![]() |

Cheers, Yves There will be no workaround- at least at my site: WU's are downloaded with estimated runtime of less than 5 hours and now all are 'blown up' to more than 15 hours. I'll crunch as much as I can, but there will be aborts. If I don't do it- the server will cancel them after 10 days. ![]() |
