Running a signle task at a time?

Hi there,

Currently my PC is running two tasks - possibly because of a dual core system - but I'd rather run a single task.

I've looked through the prefs but I no changes I make seem to only have any effect.

Any thoughts as to how I can do this?

Thanks.. Brian

Re: Running a signle task at a time?

Hi,

On either the website device profile (then needs to communicate to client for changes to take effect) or in the local client preferences (Advanced view > Advanced menu > Preferences), you can set a percent of processors.

On multiprocessors, use: 100 % of processors

For a duo set it to 50% and only 1 core will be used. Then on the activity menu select Run based on preferences, though this one is permanent irrespective of the menu selection.

If you're running the version 6.2.28 client there may be a override which is only available in the website device profile

On multiprocessors, at most use: 16 processors

Set that to 1 and hit the update button in the client to transfer the changes.

In principle though the client operates on the basis of the lowest of the 2 values. i.e. if set to 100% and 1 processor, only 1 processor is used. Later clients should only work with the percent value.
